Becoming the Voice
A 1-Day Retreat to Encounter the Mysticism of Sound
A journey through sound, connection, and sacred expression—rooted in Sufi mysticism and deep Earth wisdom—to awaken your authentic voice, embody your truth, and reclaim your power as a sacred force of creation.
When: Saturday, Feb 22nd
Time: 10:00 AM Arrival
Workshop runs 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Where: Wild Seeds Ranch, Dulzura, CA
I know you’ve felt it—the hesitation when you want to speak your truth, the self-consciousness that silences your song before it begins.
Maybe you’ve felt stuck in your head, yearning to move freely, to express freely, to simply be in the flow of creation without judgment or fear.
Perhaps you’ve sensed the fear of stepping into the full power of your voice and creative expression, unsure what it might awaken or demand of you.
You’ve felt the loneliness of holding back your true voice—the fear that, if you shared the fullness of who you are, you might still not be heard, still not be understood.
This can leave us questioning whether we truly belong—whether to a community, to the earth, or even to ourselves.
What if liberating your voice is the bridge you’ve been seeking?
This retreat is a guided journey into the sacred potential of your voice.

Your voice is the very bridge to the unity and belonging you are seeking.
When you open your voice
and give life to your deepest truths,
you honor the ancestors—
Not only the human ones who came before you, but the earth, the trees, the rivers, and the animals.
All beings that have shaped this world are part of the great lineage of life, and their wisdom lives within you.
🌟
To free your voice
is to awaken that connection.
It becomes a thread of unity, weaving you into the sacred web of existence.
Your voice bridges the seen and unseen, the past, the present, and future, the natural and supernatural.
It becomes a way to honor what has been, to live fully in what is, and to create a future that flows from authenticity and love.
Welcome to
Becoming the Voice:
a Journey into the Mysticism of Sound
A living question can arise in working with one’s voice.
We come into contact with a living flow of intuitive inspiration that can guide our lives.
But what about the big wide world out there…The world that is also a part of God?
How do we live and improvise,
sing our song,
while staying in the attunement toward harmony
with the other instruments of the symphony?
In this workshop, we get to explore both the individual and collective expression.
What would it be like to…
Express your truth without hesitation, feeling your voice flow effortlessly from a place of deep inner knowing.
Sing with freedom and joy, unburdened by self-consciousness or fear of judgment.
Trust your voice as a channel for creativity, healing, and connection—both for yourself and those who hear you.
Feel the presence of your ancestors and the earth supporting your expression, as if their wisdom flows through your voice.
Experience your voice as a unique and irreplaceable instrument in the great symphony of the universe, knowing no other voice can take its place.
Know, in your bones, that your voice is enough—that it is a sacred gift meant to be heard.
Experience the profound unity of your unique voice weaving into the harmony of a collective creation.
Together, we will explore what it means to become an instrument for inspiration, allowing your expression to flow authentically in the present moment.
Our practices will guide you into the body, where your authentic expression lives:
Throughout the day, we’ll journey through breathwork, sound, somatic experiencing, and movement to open the channels of our voices and our hearts.
Through shared intention, meditation, and Sufi-inspired practices, we’ll step into deep listening—to ourselves, to one another, and to the Divine.
Along the way, we’ll tune into the sacred rhythms of the earth, letting our voices harmonize with the living world around us.
As we sing to and with nature, we’ll awaken a sense of reciprocity and belonging, weaving our voices into the great web of life.
Our journey will culminate with a collective soundscape—a co-created symphony of voices where each unique truth becomes part of a unified expression.
This sacred improvisation will be a living reflection of the harmony, healing, and beauty we’ve cultivated together.
We’ll close with a song circle, an open invitation to share music, poetry, or anything alive in your heart.
Together, we’ll celebrate the day with a nourishing dinner, honoring the sacred container we’ve created and the connections we’ve awakened.

When your voice flows from this place of deep listening,
it becomes a sacred act.
It becomes A way to honor the past, embody the present, and co-create a future rooted in love and authenticity.
By the end of this journey, you will come to know your voice as something far beyond sound. It will become a prayer, a channel, a bridge of connection. You will feel the unity of all things—not as a concept, but as an embodied truth that resonates in your breath and your being.
You will leave with the confidence to express your deepest truths, the freedom to sing from your soul, and the knowing that your voice carries the wisdom of the ancestors and the blessing of the Divine.
And as your voice transforms, so will your life. For when we sing from this place, every word, every breath, every moment becomes part of the sacred song of creation.

Sufi and animistic wisdom will be guiding this Journey.
For the Sufis, everything in the Universe is a manifestation of God, nothing is separate from the One. The very “Word” that is spoken of in the scriptures is the vibration of God exploding out from singularity to multiplicity. Therefore, in truth, everything is the voice of the Divine. And yet, one can discriminate between a voice which comes from the Real, versus a falseness from the ego-mind. The great Sufi master, Hazrat Inayat Khan, himself a musician, said:
“One must not sacrifice the natural quality of one’s voice. For every person must know that there is no other voice like one’s own, and if that peculiarity that each soul has of its own voice is lost, then nothing is left within it. Besides that, every person is an instrument in this orchestra which is the whole universe, and each voice is the music that comes from each instrument, and each instrument is made distinct and particular and peculiar. No other voice can take the place of that particular voice.”

Julia Rose Rahm
Julia Rose Rahm has been a mureed (student) of Sufism in the lineages of Hazrat Inayat Khan for the past 10 years.
She holds a BA in Theater and Music from Sarah Lawrence College (2014) and a masters in classical Voice Performance from Roosevelt University (2019).
Through her studies with intuitive vocal coach Bisan Toron in 2021, she began to move into a deeply somatic vocal approach which led to the creation of her first album, Wound Tapestry, released in April 2024.
For her, the voice is an expression of the Divine offered to Her very own Being, the Universe singing back to the wholeness of Herself from her individuating Self.
Everything that we may, in our judging egos, deem unworthy of Her may be sung back as an offering, alchemized into Wholeness through the medium of our bodies.
La ilaha ill Allah – there is nothing but God. All is included. All becomes praise.
She looks forward to holding space for us all to be sung by the One, in the One, as the One, together.
